Open Forum
VECTA is successful in many ways with support from many traders in Evesham and the Vale. It has had a number of achievements, including;
-
Lobbying for extended parking time from half an hour to one hour in High Street;
-
Lobbying for
Swan Lane
site to be bought by WDC and turned into car park;
-
Consulting over High Street enhancement (and commitment of £2k towards it);
-
Christmas Window Competition (2006);
-
VECTA seminars
-
Medieval Festival;
-
Support for Festival of Brass;
-
Initiated Town Centre Forum.
-
Flood recovery grants
-
Christmas Markets
-
Development of the VECTA website
However, the question must be asked whether the business and retail sectors are getting the best from VECTA, and whether VECTA is best organised to benefit those sectors, the Town, and the Vale………the people and businesses it set itself up to represent.
Such an organisation needs, among other things, to encourage and develop a community ethos within the business sector, with a clear focus on common goals and objectives.
VECTA should be aiming to
provide a service to the business and retail sectors in Evesham and The Vale by helping to establish a favourable operating environment, by providing a forum for discussion on non-competitive issues, by providing information to assist members in their business, and by promoting Evesham & The Vale
within the
UK
.”
New Beginnings
The event you are invited to will largely take the form of several workshops or groups, where relevant issues of concern to you and your business colleagues will be discussed. There will be ample opportunity to make your voice heard, and to contribute fully to the shape and purpose of VECTA.
“NEW BEGINNINGS” will benefit You, The Town and The Vale because:
·
It will help members and non members to reflect on why VECTA exists, and provide an opportunity for those attending to have an input towards goals, aims and objectives
·
It will provide VECTA with a focus that is relevant, and a strategy that will serve the local business, commercial, and retail
communities.
·
It will provide an opportunity to redefine goals, giving a new and stronger focus for VECTA
·
It will provide an opportunity to dispel myths and rumours, and bring businesses together for a common cause
·
It will provide an opportunity to inform the public and increase understanding
·
It will result in more direct involvement by members in key VECTA activities
·
It can send a strong message that Evesham is serious about having a robust representative body that delivers benefits and works for the town
·
It will assist in developing and supporting a strategic overview for promoting business in Evesham and the Vale
You are invited to join with your local business colleagues
in an Open Forum event to take forward the effective development of the Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association(VECTA)

VECTA is delighted to welcome Richard Denny, who will chair this Open Forum event.
Richard Denny has had a fascinating career. Brought up in a rectory, - his father was a Rector Baronet – he chose agriculture!! From this he branched out into building a successful farm food wholesale business. He masterminded and led the first farmer’s rebellion in the UK. Quickly realising you can’t take on the government and win, he then diversified into retailing. From foods he again diversified into detergents and was responsible for some 2000 people. This led to selling and marketing opportunities in the Middle East where his products included steel, cement, Yugoslavian lamb and electronic equipment. With all this vast experience he was continually being asked to speak and advise others, and this led to the Richard Denny Group being formed
Over the past 20 years Richard has become a legend on the International speaking circuit. The Richard Denny Group is recognised at the forefront of business training on selling, leadership and management, customer care and business growth. Richard has authored and presented over 30 training videos. His books are International best sellers, selling into 46 countries and translated into 28 languages. His new book – Winning New Business – Essential selling skills for non-sales people, is the book for everyone who is client or customer facing, and who really should have the skills to help bring in the business and keep existing clients and customers. He is the creator and founder of British Professional Sales Diploma and the British Leadership & Management Diploma. He is also Chairman of a telecommunications company in the UK.
